Euro 2024 hosts Germany to bid for UEFA CL 2021 final

MUNICH: Nearly six weeks after winning the bid against Turkey for hosting the Euro 2024 championships, Germany has now set its sights on the UEFA Champions League 2021 final. UEFA has received their ‘declaration of interest’ as the DFB, the governing body of German football, has named Munich as the candidate city. This time, it will be battling Russia, the hosts of the most successful FIFA World Cup ever which took place this year, which has named Saint Petersburg for its bid.

However, Germany and Russia have been instructed to send their final proposals with the bid dossiers by 15 February 2019 since the declarations of interest are not binding.

For all UEFA club competition finals in 2021, the European governing body has received declarations of interest from 11 member associations. UEFA’s Executive Committee will select the successful host associations at a meeting which is scheduled to take place in May or June 2019.
