MUMBAI: Sony Pictures Network (India), host broadcaster in the Indian subcontinent for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in Russia, has sent out take down notices to illicit streaming sites warning of legal action if they decide to stream matches from the tournament.
Streaming sites are a major problem for Sony and others as they are often removed but they also return in hours or days.
TechNadu has posted an image from TorrentFreak which shows that the company is sending warnings. In the email, it is explained that the company has the exclusive rights for the upcoming World Cup. The email adds the channels that will be showing the games and a warning for the site not to be involved in any broadcasting of World Cup matches.
The 2018 FIFA World Cup will begin on June 14 running through till July 15.
