HC appoints administrator for DDCA

NEW DELHI: Just minutes before Supreme Court named four administrators to run the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) here Monday, the Delhi High Court appointed Justice Vikramajit Sen, a former Supreme Court judge, as administrator of faction-riven and scam tainted Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA).

The order was passed by a Bench of Justice S Ravindra Bhat and Justice Deepa Sharma. The court has also stopped the current sports working committee of the DDCA from functioning.

Justice Sen has been given the task to amend the Articles of Association of the DDCA in order to implement the Justice RM Lodha reforms by incorporating age and tenure clause, reconstitution of the sports committee and affiliated units, among other matters.

Justice Sen will take over from Justice Mukul Mudgal, who was overseeing the holding of matches at the Feroze Shah Kotla stadium for the last one year. He was also assigned the task of overseeing the functioning of the DDCA against the backdrop of alleged irregularities in the cricketing body’s operations.

Currently on a personal trip to Thailand and Singapore, the 66-year-old is likely to take over the DDCA administration on his return at the end of the week, Calcutta Telegraph reports.

A former student of Delhi’s prestigious St Stephen’s College, Sen has an onerous task on hand considering the rights royal mess the DDCA is in at present.
