NEW DELHI: The 2018-19 edition of the Hero I-League, which kicks-off on October 26, will be telecast live on the Star Sports network. All India Football Federation’s developmental side Indian Arrows take on Chennai City FC in Coimbatore’s Nehru Stadium on the opening day.
11 teams from across the country will cross swords over the period of the League to decide who will be crowned the ‘champions of India’ and take home the trophy. The champions of the League will get a slot for the AFC Champions League qualifier.
Significantly, the 12th edition will also feature a team from the state of Jammu and Kashmir – Real Kashmir Football Club – that gained promotion from the 2ND Division League to India’s notionally top-flight club football tournament.
Meanwhile, Minerva Punjab FC will begin the defence of their title on October 28 when the defending champions host Churchill Brothers, the only Goa-based team competing in the I-League this season.
