INTERNATIONAL CRICKET COUNCIL (ICC) has reported exceptional digital engagement figures for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025, confirming it as the most digitally engaged women’s cricket event in history and one of the most widely consumed women’s sporting events across global digital platforms.
According to the ICC, the tournament captivated audiences worldwide, amassing 5.2 billion video views, a substantial rise from the 1.5 billion recorded during the 2024 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Social media interactions surged to 279 million, more than triple last year’s tally of 84 million. The ICC website and app also witnessed remarkable growth, attracting 8.5 million unique visitors compared with 3 million in 2024.
India’s title-winning campaign played a significant role in driving fan engagement, with standout on-field moments resonating across platforms. The winning moment alone generated over 87 million views, while scenes from the semi-final surpassed 70 million. Images highlighting sportsmanship after the final drew 40 million views, and a celebratory clip featuring former players crossed 30 million.
In parallel, the ICC strengthened its commitment to player welfare and the integrity of the digital ecosystem. Through its ongoing social media monitoring initiative, more than 2.4 million harmful comments were proactively blocked across ICC and player channels, considerably reducing exposure to online abuse and negative behaviour.
ICC CEO Sanjog Gupta said, “The ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 has redefined what is possible for women’s sport on the global stage. The scale of digital engagement reflects not just the passion of fans, but the power of the athletes, the stories, and the cricket they produced. This tournament has ignited a deeper emotional connection with audiences worldwide and accelerated the momentum of women’s cricket in an unprecedented way. These results reaffirm our long-term commitment to elevating the women’s game, through stronger events, broader access, greater investment and a digital strategy that brings fans closer to every moment.”
