ICC World Cup: DD to offer live t’cast & studio programming

MUMBAI: Public broadcaster Doordarshan will, for the first time, introduce dual streams for the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.

“Taking a break from the world of politics some good news to cricket fans regarding the coverage of @cricketworldcup on @ddsportschannel – there will no longer be a blank screen on @ddsportschannel on private DTH and cable MSO platforms during live telecast of cricket matches,” Vempati posted on his Twitter account.

He further added, “For the first time @ddsportschannel will be introducing dual streams – first stream will telecast the matches live and will be available only DD Free Dish and DD’s Terrestrial Network.

“The second stream will carry a live studio-based program for the entire duration of all matches and will be available on all private DTH and private cable MSO platforms apart from YouTube.”

Vemptai said that the move will ensure that there are no blank screens. “With this dual stream, an instruction will be issued to all private DTH and cable MSO platforms to not blank out @ddsportschannel on days when live matches are telecast under the mandatory sharing of sports signals act.”
