NEW DELHI: The captain of the Indian men’s hockey team, Manpreet Singh on Tuesday signed up with adidas, the global sports giant ahead of the season-ending Odisha Hockey World Cup to be played in Bhubaneswar from 28 November to 16 December.
IOS Sports and Entertainment, one of India’s largest sports marketing and talent management companies, brokered the deal on Manpreet’s behalf.
As a result, the 26-year-old halfback joins the likes of Hima Das, Swapna Burman, Rohit Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, Rishabh Pant, Dipika Pallikal, Zeel Desai, Nikhat Zareen, Siddhanth Banthia and Manjot Kalra in the adidas India family of athletes.
Individually, 2018 has been a fine year for Manpreet, who was conferred the Arjuna Award recently. He led the Indian team to a bronze medal at the World League Final in 2017 as well.
“Association with adidas is an opportunity that every sportsperson looks forward to and I am really excited to have been given this chance of joining their family. adidas believes in nurturing talent and further carving the strengths of a sportsperson by offering the world class products,” Manpreet was quoted as saying to PTI.
