India’s 1983 cricket icons to celebrate historic reunion in Singapore

THE MARINERS CRICKET CLUB Singapore will host The ’83 Legends Tour of Singapore from August 7-9, 2026, marking the first reunion of India’s 1983 World Cup-winning squad in Asia.

The tour features Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, and Mohinder Amarnath, among others. It opens with a Grand Gala Dinner on August 7 for over 600 guests, featuring a live talk session with the 1983 players. Corporate leadership workshops on August 7-8 will translate sporting insights into business strategies.

The sporting centrepiece takes place on August 8 with a Legends vs Mariners match, integrated into the annual Mariners Premier League featuring 61 teams across corporate, open, women’s, and junior divisions. The match will be live-streamed to over 2,000 commercial ships at sea.

Mariners’ Cricket Club Singapore President Avijit Dutta said, “The 1983 World Cup victory remains a definitive masterclass in overcoming impossible odds through collective unity and visionary leadership. This landmark tour brings that historic legacy directly into Singapore’s vibrant corporate and sports ecosystem. By combining elite sports psychology with premium networking, we aim to inspire our local business community and the next generation of athletes. Furthermore, broadcasting our showcase match live to thousands of mariners working out at sea reinforces Singapore’s unmatched global connectivity, celebrates the deep camaraderie that defines our maritime industry, and allows us to serve as a tireless torch-bearer to promote cricket in South-East Asia.”

The Mariners Cricket Club Singapore, established in 2005, brings together professionals from the maritime and related corporate industries under the motto “Bringing the Maritime Industry Together Through Sport, Camaraderie & Community.”
