INDORE: The city’s district administration on Friday charged IPL franchise, Kings XI Punjab an amount of Rs 1.5 million to be paid to those departments whose services were sought for during their ‘home’ games played here this season, Times of India reports.
It was also reported that the administration considered payment models of other cities in which IPL matches are being hosted, to come up with that amount. The police, Indore Municipal Corporation, the fire department and other agencies have served KXIP during the season.
“The administration at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai charges around Rs 25 lakh (Rs 2.5 million) from the franchise while the team pays around Rs 12.5 lakh for playing a match at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. We are expecting to charge over Rs 15 lakh as a combined ‘bill’ of the administration and police,” district collector Nishant Warwade told TOI.
He mentioned that the cost of providing KXIP security for the city police generally comes up to Rs 900,000 per match.
“IMC is preparing its ‘bill’ of services being offered for conducting the match, so do fire-department and other agencies concerned,” the collector added.
He also revealed that as per their discussion with the team owners and management, KXIP will be charged 10 per cent more per year on the ‘bills’ made and requested them for more CSR activities.
“We have urged the team, which has made Holkar stadium as its home ground, to establish a cricket academy in the city and also carry out various work under its corporate-social responsibility (CSR) activities to benefit the needy people,” Warwade told the daily.
