The inaugural edition of the International Masters League (IML), initially set for November 17, 2024, has been rescheduled to the first quarter of 2025.
A statement issued Wednesday by the IML organisers reads: “This decision, necessitated by recent announcements and taken in close consultation with local authorities, ensures compliance with government protocols and legal requirements. A revised schedule for the IML will soon be released in collaboration with our partners, broadcasters, and players. The IML organizing committee extends its appreciation to all Masters, stakeholders, partners, and fans for their understanding and enthusiasm. We look forward to an exciting and successful inaugural edition in 2025.”
IML is planned as an annual T20 cricket tournament, initially featuring cricketing stars from six cricket-playing nations – India, Australia, South Africa, West Indies, England, and Sri Lanka.
Matches for the inaugural season are scheduled to held in Mumbai, Lucknow and Raipur.
PMG Sports and SPORTFIVE will be providing services for some of the commercial and operational aspects of the league including sourcing franchise partnerships, commercial rights partnerships, on-ground execution and broadcast production.
SPORTFIVE’s participation in the league is being undertaken through the agency’s UAE-based entity, which will be a shareholder in the Indian company set up to operate the league.
