MUMBAI: Ahead of the IPL mini-auction, a total of 163 players have been retained among the ten franchises while 85 were released. For the mini-auction, the teams, over and above the purse left after last year’s auction and this year’s retention/release, will have an additional Rs 5 crore to spend.
However, even as the BCCI have fixed December 23 for holding the auction in Kochi, the teams are reportedly planning to request a rescheduling of the date.
Reason: Their foreign support staff would by and large prefer to take their Christmas break if offered the option.
Meanwhile, there is no official word from the BCCI on the matter and it’s yet to be seen if the Indian cricket board agrees to change the date.
