IPL revenue to cross Rs10bn mark for 1st time: Shah

MUMBAI: Ahead of the 2022 edition of the Tata Indian premier League, Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Jay Shah has confirmed that revenue from sponsorships for the 15th season is all set to surpass the Rs 1,000 crore mark (Rs 10 billion).

IPL 2022 will also be the first season where the cash-rich league will see sponsorship for the Purple Cap and Orange Cap. The IPL GC recently announced new deals with RuPay and Swiggy Instamart as central sponsors for IPL. With the additions, nine central sponsorship slots in all have been sold for the forthcoming season of the IPL, another first.

“This clearly shows the value of IPL as a brand. We are absolutely delighted with these new sponsorship deals. This year we have clocked the highest ever sponsorship revenues. For the record for the 1st time, we will be crossing the 1000 cr revenue mark from IPL sponsorships for a single season,” Shah told Inside Sport.
