MUMBAI: The rollout of Disney+ Hotstar OTT service has been put on hold and a new revised premiere date for the service will be announced soon, Walt Disney India confirmed Friday.
The app was to be launched along with the IPL 2020 season kick-off.
Uday Shankar, president – The Walt Disney Company APAC and chairman, Star & Disney India, said: “We recently announced that Disney+ would launch in India through the Hotstar service in conjunction with beginning of the Indian Premier League cricket season. Given the delay of the season, we have made the decision to briefly pause the roll-out of Disney+ and will announce a new revised premiere date for the service soon.”
The original launch date was set to be around March 29.
On March 11, a limited release of the beta version of the Disney+ Hotstar app was made as a tested with a small number of consumers.
