HYDERABAD: JD Sports Fashion Plc, UK and Europe’s top multi brand retailer of sports fashion and outdoor brands, opened its offshore technology development centre in the city on Friday.
The company has invested a sum of Rs 100 million (£1.12 million) for the Global In-House Centre.
The centre will help the business offer its global customers a multi-channel experience by developing, testing and supporting software applications and systems using cutting edge technologies like web and e-commerce applications, digital marketing tools among others, a release by the retailer said.
Jayesh Ranjan, principal secretary, IT and Industries, Telangana, inaugurated the centre.
JD Sports has over 1,500 stores in over 16 countries, having recently expanded its operations into the USA and Puerto Rico as well. It reported a net profit of £307.4 million ($392.11 million) in April with revenues of £3,161.4 million ($4046.6 million).
The centre head, Ganesh Sivangula, said the facility would house about 500 resources, helping the group meet its technological demands and objectives and operate 24×7 to support its global business units.
