JioBLAST names Charlie Cowdrey as CEO to drive India biz

JioBLAST, the newly formed joint venture between BLAST and RISE Worldwide Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Reliance Industries Limited, has appointed Charlie Cowdrey been as the JV’s chief executive officer.

The appointment is seen as a pivotal step in BLAST’s strategic expansion into the Indian market.

As part of his new role, Cowdrey will relocate from London to Mumbai this September, where he will take charge of leading the JV’s operations in India. This relocation marks a major milestone in BLAST’s global journey, as the company prepares to deepen its footprint in one of the fastest-growing markets in the world.

BLAST CEO Robbie Douek expressed strong confidence in Cowdrey’s leadership, highlighting his instrumental role in the company’s growth over the past few years. “Charlie has been a key figure behind BLAST’s growth and publisher operations. He is a trusted leader who understands our culture, our partners and our ambitions,” said Douek. “India represents an enormous opportunity for BLAST, and we believe Charlie is the perfect person to take this vision forward.”

The formation of JioBLAST is expected to tap into India’s dynamic and rapidly expanding gaming and esports ecosystem. With the combined strengths of BLAST’s international expertise and Reliance’s local influence through RISE, the venture aims to revolutionize the region’s digital entertainment landscape.
