JioCinema appoints YouTube’s Chatterjee as chief business officer

Reliance Industries Ltd-owned video streaming platform JioCinema has appointed YouTube executive Ishan John Chatterjee as its new chief business officer 

For the record, JioCinema is owned by Digital18, a subsidiary of RIL-controlled Viacom18.

Ishan will play a key role in JioCinema’s leadership team and will closely work with CEO Kiran Mani, said Viacom18.

“Ishan’s appointment reflects JioCinema’s commitment to accelerate its transformation into a tech-enabled company, delivering cutting-edge, seamless digital experiences to its rapidly expanding user base,” a Viacom18 statement reads.

As CBO, Chatterjee takes charge of overall monetisation for JioCinema, Viacom18 further stated. “In this role, he is responsible for revenues from sports, and SMB revenue growth across sports and entertainment. Ishan joins JioCinema from YouTube India where he served as managing director and played a pivotal role in shaping the platform’s strategy and growth in the country,” the statement adds.

With over two decades of experience, including 13 years at Google, Chatterjee also worked with McKinsey and Hindustan Unilever.
