LaLiga extends collaboration with Samsung till 2021

MADRID: LaLiga, Spain’s football league and Samsung Electronics have renewed their ongoing partnership deal for another three years.

LaLiga will feature in Samsung’s global content and services through the company’s products, including mobile, virtual reality and artificial intelligence devices and wearables.

Samsung’s latest range of wearables will also have new customised LaLiga-themed designs after the success enjoyed by the LaLiga watch faces, which were amongst the most downloaded products in previous ranges. The designs will also be rolled out for the latest versions of the Samsung Galaxy smartphones.

Celestino Garcia, corporate vice-president of Samsung Spain commented on the development. “This new agreement represents a great opportunity for Samsung, given that we seek to promote innovation within sport by improving the user experience. Furthermore, it also sees us strengthen our commitment and support for the values fostered by football and who better to be doing this with than LaLiga?”

LaLiga president Javier Tebas said: “Joining forces with partners who will work with us on our journey towards digitalisation is a priority for us at LaLiga. This is one of the reasons why we’re pleased to have reached this agreement with Samsung, who will support us in our drive towards innovation.”

Samsung and LaLiga are also expected to organize a competition for 4,000 local developers in Spain who will be tested on their ability to improve the LaLiga fan experience by using the technology within the Samsung product portfolio to work hand in hand with the tournament.
