DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has been recognised for two of its digital initiatives at the prestigious Leaders in Sports Awards 2019.
One of the awards was for ‘One Day in July’, a short-form documentary with content collaboration between the International Cricket Council and The All England Lawn Tennis Club, recalling the extraordinary events of Sunday 14 July 2019 as the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup and The Championships drew to their conclusions.
The other award was given for ICC’s ambition to fill Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) for the Women’s T20 World Cup Final and break records for a women’s sporting event. The ICC Women’s T20 World Cup had 1.1 billion video views on ICC platforms, which was a 20 times increase on the last Women’s T20 World Cup in 2018. It also had 90 million global television viewers and over 5.4 billion minutes in India alone.
“We are delighted to receive the prestigious Leaders in Sports Award for two initiatives that showcase how cricket connects with the world,” said ICC chief executive Manu Sawhney.
