WASHINGTON: The US city of Louisville, home town of Muhammad Ali in the US state of Kentucky, has renamed its airport after the legendery boxer who transcended sport.
When the proposal was announced in January, Louisville Mayor Greg Fischer had said that Ali is an inspiration for billions of people around the world.
The American professional boxer, activist and philanthropist native of Louisville, Kentuky won his first Olympic Gold medal in the light heavyweight division at the age of 18. In 1964, he won the world heavyweight championship.
Ali passed away in 2016.
