JAIPUR: The Congress has named sitting MLA and discus thrower Krishna Poonia as its candidate to take on Sports Minister and Olympian Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Rathore, the ruling BJP’s candidate for the Jaipur rural seat in Rajasthan, is also the Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting.
Rajasthan, which has 25 Lok Sabha constituencies, will hold elections in two phases, on April 29 and May 6.
Filing of nomination papers for the 13 constituencies going to the polls in the first phase kicked off Tuesday.
