Lucknow Super Giants appoint Tom Moody as global director

INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE (IPL) franchise Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have appointed former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody as their global director of cricket ahead of the 2026 season. In his new role, the 60-year-old will oversee cricket operations and strategic planning across tournaments for the RP Sanjiv Goenka Group-owned franchise. The IPL 2026 player auction is expected to take place next month.

While an official statement from the franchise is awaited, LSG’s social media channels confirmed the development, writing, “Experience. Vision. Leadership. Welcome aboard the Super Giants Universe, Tom Moody!”

Moody brings extensive IPL experience to the role, having previously held two coaching stints with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). During his first tenure from 2013 to 2019, he led SRH to their maiden IPL title in 2016. He returned as director of cricket in 2021 and later served as head coach in 2022, before parting ways following Brian Lara’s appointment.

His arrival at LSG follows the exit of former India fast bowler Zaheer Khan, who served as LSG’s global director of cricket for one season. Although initially contracted for two years, Zaheer left the franchise in September.
