Manika Batra aces 1st endorsement with Herbalife

NEW DELHI: Manika Batra, the table tennis champion who shot to fame by being India’s first ever woman gold medallist at the Commonwealth Games in the 2018 edition, was named as the one of the brand ambassadors of Herbalife Nutrition India on Thursday.

During her association with the American nutrition powerhouse, she will help spread awareness on a healthy, active lifestyle. This partnership continues to champion Herbalife’s vision of balanced nutrition, overall wellness as well as the entire sports performance brand.

Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Khanna, vice president and country head of Herbalife Nutrition India said:

“We are delighted to have Manika as our sponsored athlete and to be a part of her incredible journey. There is a great synergy between our brand’s ethos and values and Manika. She has won laurels for the country and is a source of inspiration for young sports enthusiasts in the country.

“Herbalife Nutrition has always encouraged the importance of nutrition in the creation of a successful athlete. Through our association with Manika, we aim to reiterate our commitment of making the country healthier and happier.”

Batra also commented on the deal: “I have always believed that staying fit begins with eating healthy, dedication and being confident about yourself and Herbalife Nutrition with its powerful message “Healthy Active Lifestyle” to “Make the World Healthier & Happier” has always encouraged people to live a healthy life. It’s an absolute privilege to be a part of Herbalife family. It promotes the importance of a healthy lifestyle and balanced nutrition which is just as important as training and hard work. Through this association, I look forward to spreading the awareness about healthy living and embracing wellness.”

Batra becomes the fourth top Indian athlete to become the face of the brand following Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli, boxer Mary Kom and badminton star Saina Nehwal. IOS Sports and Entertainment helped her secure the deal, which happens to be her first ever brand endorsement. The two had joined forces in May this year.

Similarly, the New Delhi-based talent management company also announced champion athlete Hima Das’ first sponsorship deal with adidas on Wednesday. Incidentally, it also has the likes of Nehwal and Kom on board as its clients besides Vijender Singh and champion weightlifter Mirabai Chanu.
