As the TATA IPL Play-offs unfolded, JioStar announced Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan was joining its presentation team for Qualifier 2 on June 1 (Punjab Kings beat Mumbai Indians by 5 wickets), and the summit clash on June 3 between PBKS and Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Aamir Khan appeared on Star Sports and JioHotstar along with Genelia D’Souza and the cast of his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par, during the pre-shows of Qualifier 2 and will do so again for the IPL 2025 final. The high-profile marketing activation has been timed ahead of the release of the film.
In addition, Aamir also swapped his role in front of a film camera for a commentary mic as he stepped into the commentary box to call Qualifier 2 on June 1, and will be seen again at the summit clash on June 3.
Fans can expect the movie star to not only make his match predictions, analyze the game, and commentate alongside JioStar’s world-class panel of former IPL champions and legends, but also get involved with some cricket action himself and entertain viewers.
Speaking ahead of joining JioStar’s TATA IPL Play-offs presentation, Aamir Khan said, “Nothing matches the energy and stakes of the TATA IPL Play-offs and I’m quite excited to be at JioStar’s studios for these crucial play-off games. Personally, I think both matches are going to be a cracker considering the teams still in contention, and I’m looking forward to commentating off the field.”
