MUMBAI: VIVO Pro Kabaddi League promoter company Mashal Sports, controlled by Star India, has launched an initiative #RaidForGold in association with the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI) that aims to garner the support of the whole nation for the Indian Kabaddi team for its Asian Games 2018 campaign in Indonesia.
Beginning on July 9, the campaign will also reach out physically and digitally to more than 2,000 schools across 19 cities in the country, with top Indian players such as Ajay Thakur, Rishank Devadiga, Rahul Chaudhari, Deepak Hooda and Rohit Kumar visiting some of them to promote the game amongst the youth.
The campaign gives fans an opportunity to pledge their support to the team by signing up on https://www.raidforgold.in/. It is expected to be a massive success following India’s recent win in the Kabaddi Masters in Dubai, which was broadcast and digitally streamed by Star India. The Indian team are also the world champions in the game and defending champions at the Asian Games.
“It is heartening to see the launch of a unique, nationwide effort, #RaidForGold, to rally support for the Indian Kabaddi Team for the upcoming Asian Games. The initiative has truly brought about a sense of passion and support for a game like Kabaddi that was earlier possibly seen only in cricket, owing to the ever-growing popularity of Pro Kabaddi League as well. This was evident in my interactions with young fans across schools in Delhi and I was overwhelmed by their interest in the sport. I would urge all fans of the sport to pledge their support for the Indian Kabaddi team through #RaidForGold to represent the voice of a nation in our quest for victory”, Hooda, who is one of PKL’s top all-rounders and representing Jaipur Pink Panthers this season, said.
