LANDO NORRIS secured his maiden Formula 1 Drivers’ Championship after finishing third in the season-deciding Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, crossing the line behind Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri.
Starting the race from second on the grid, sandwiched between pole-sitter Verstappen and McLaren team-mate Piastri, Norris knew a podium finish would be enough to clinch the 2025 title.
An aggressive move from Piastri on the opening lap pushed Norris down to third, and he came under further pressure from Charles Leclerc. A tricky stint in traffic after his first pit stop, followed by a close-quarters battle with Yuki Tsunoda, added to the tension.
Despite the challenges, Norris maintained composure throughout and held on to third place, sealing the championship ahead of Verstappen and Piastri, who both delivered immaculate drives to claim first and second.
In the end, only two points separated Norris and Verstappen atop the standings, following the 10-point swing at Yas Marina, with Piastri finishing a further 11 points adrift.
