SHILLONG, Meghalaya: Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju, while inaugurated the new Synthetic Football Ground, Synthetic Athletic Track & Field and Girls hostel at SAI Training Centre, said that National Games 2022 will be held in Meghayala.
“My Ministry would give full support to the National Games when they would be held in Meghalaya. Chief Minister (Conrad K Sangma), being a sports lover, is really giving all his efforts to hold the games next year,” Rijiju said, adding that he would do everything to promote sports in the northeastern states.
Before that, it might (emphasis ours) be Goa that hosts the 36th National Games later this year – in November. Goa was originally scheduled to host the Games in November 2018.
It bears noting that last edition of the National Games was held in 2015 in Kerala.
