MUMBAI: Former India skipper Mohammed Azharuddin, Rohan Jaitly, DDCA president and son of late BJP leader Arun Jaitley, have been named on to the seven-member BCCI working group that was formed on Saturday to decide on the formula to compensate first-class cricketers for the cancellation of Ranji Trophy last season due to COVID-19 pandemic.
Azharuddin was recently re-instated as president of the Hyderabad Cricket Association by Ombudsman Justice (retd) Deepak Verma, who also “temporarily disqualified” five members of HCA’s apex council, which had suspended the former India captain.
The other members of the panel include Saurashtra’s Jaydev Shah, Karnataka’s Santosh Menon, Assam’s Devajit Saikia, CAB’s Avishek Dalmiya and Uttar Pradesh’s Yudhvir Singh.
Last season, the players in domestic cricket lost around Rs 1 to 1.5 million as the Indian cricket board could only hold the Vijay Hazare Trophy (National One Dayers) and Syed Mushtaq (National T20).
