Murugan meets Krafton CEO to discuss gaming collab avenues

Dr L MURUGAN, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting, on Wednesday met Krafton CEO Kim Chang-han at the South Korean gaming giant’s Seoul headquarters to discuss avenues of cooperation.

Murugan noted Krafton’s achievements in contributing to the development of the Indian game industry through the launch of “Battlegrounds Mobile India” mobile game and local investment.

Krafton has invested north of $200 million ((₹1,170 crore)) cumulatively in the Indian startup ecosystem. Recently, it has expanded partnerships with leading Indian companies to expand its brand ecosystem around BGMI.

Kim and Murugan discussed Krafton’s success stories in the Indian game market and various agendas, including growth potential, startup investment status, and the recent direction of the Indian government’s gaming industry policy.

In particular, Murugan thanked Krafton for its contribution to the Indian game industry and investment in the startup ecosystem, expressing expectations for possible education, technology exchanges, and cooperation in the media and entertainment industries in the future.

Kim said: “It was a meaningful opportunity to directly discuss the development and cooperation direction of the game industry with India’s Minister of Information and Broadcasting. In the future, we will continue to exchange education and develop and invest in local games to contribute to the development of the Indian game ecosystem and provide users with a better game experience.”
