NAGPUR is hosting the Yonex-Sunrise Amol Kale Memorial Yash Open District Badminton Tournament from 28 to 31 August at the Subhedar Badminton Hall, RTMNU Sports Complex, Ravi Nagar.
The four-day championship, organised by Yash Audio Visuals under the aegis of the Nagpur District Badminton Association (NDBA) and sanctioned by the Maharashtra Badminton Association (MBA), features competitions across seven categories — from Under-9 to senior and veteran (35+ years) divisions — in both singles and doubles.
The tournament is dedicated to the memory of Amol Kale, businessman and former president of the Mumbai Cricket Association.
With a prize pool exceeding Rs.2 lakh, the event has already attracted nearly 200 entries, with organisers expecting another 100 registrations before the close of entries. MBA senior vice-president and NDBA secretary Mangesh Kashikar shared that matches will follow Badminton Association of India (BAI), MBA, and NDBA regulations to ensure high standards of competition
Yash Audio Visuals director Sourabh Kerhalkar said, “During the tournament, we will also felicitate city stars Malvika Bansod, Ritika Thaker, and Rohan Gurbani for their outstanding performances at the national and international levels.”
