MUMBAI: Nepal’s U-19 team could play an ODI series in India for the first time from September 9 to September 20 in Kolkata, the country’s official news agency Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) reports.
The team has been invited by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for a tournament also featuring the Indian Colts, Afghanistan Colts and the National Cricket Academy (NCA). The latter is said to be Nepal’s opponents at a match in Kolkata’s Jadavpur University should the tournament go ahead. The final will take place at the iconic Eden Gardens.
However, the International Cricket Council (ICC) is yet to sanction the tournament and as a result, Nepal prefers to play the waiting game at the moment before taking a final call.
“It might take some days to decide over the participation in the series. Some of our U-19 players who are in the national team are just back from the Netherlands upon consulting with them we will decide,” Raman Siwakoti, the manager of the Nepal team was quoted as saying to RSS.
