‘Odisha by day, Hockey by Night’ tour packages to envelope Hockey WC

BHUBANESWAR: Odisha Tourism is going all out to promote the Men’s Hockey World Cup 2018 in the city by officially launching tour packages titled ‘Odisha by day, Hockey by Night’ for visitors and fans coming from all parts of the world, Times of India reports.

Through sports tourism, Odisha will be promoted as these packages have been designed specifically for people to travel to iconic places around and near Bhubaneswar in the morning so that they can return to watch the World Cup matches in the evening.

The packages have been divided into one-day and half-day ones, being reasonably priced. A half-day visit from the Kalinga Stadium where the matches will be played, will cost Rs. 1245 for an Indian visitor while a foreigner is expected to shell out Rs. 1880 for the same. It covers air-conditioned transport facilities, a certified guide to show them around, entry fees for sightseeing places, lunch and mineral water.

“The main objective is to promote sports tourism, which includes both enjoying the hockey matches and also visiting the fantastic tourist destinations of Odisha on the same day. So it is aptly named ‘Odisha by Day and Hockey by Night’,” Odisha tourism minister Ashok Chandra Panda was quoted as saying to the newspaper.
