Oman replaces Pak at FIH Men’s Junior Hockey WC Tamil Nadu ’25

LAUSANNE, Switzerland: The International Hockey Federation announced Wednesday that Oman will now join the list of participating teams for the upcoming FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup Tamil Nadu 2025, in place of Pakistan.

The FIH took the decision after the Pakistan Hockey Federation notified the world body that the PHF would not be accepting the invitation to participate in the event.

The FIH Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup Tamil Nadu 2025 will take place from 28 November to 10 December in the cities of Chennai and Madurai, per an official release.

Oman qualified for the Junior World Cup as the next-highest-placed team in the continental championship (Junior Asia Cup 2024).

For the very first time, the FIH Hockey Junior World Cups 2025, women and men, will involve 24 teams each, enabling greater accessibility to FIH events, which is one of the fundamental principles of the FIH Empowerment and Engagement strategy.

Germany won the last edition in 2023, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

It bears noting that Pakistan’s men’s hockey team did not participate in the recently concluded Asia Cup Hockey in Rajgir, Bihar, which took place from August 29 to September 7, citing security concerns. In their place, Bangladesh participated in the competition. Oman too decided against participation, with Kazakhstan taking their place in the competition.
