MUMBAI: To say that the state of world cricket is in a flux is stating the obvious (“Something is rotten in the state of Denmark”, some would say, with a respectful hat tip to Shakespeare).
More proof of that is in the irony that while Australia’s upcoming T20I tour of Bangladesh has secured a broadcaster in India in premier Indian digital sports platform FanCode, the same cannot be said for Australia.
For the first time in 27 years (emphasis ours), the Baggie Greens have embarked on an international cricket tour which, till the time this report was uploaded, is having no television broadcast back home Down Under. Why? Because the series had found no network takers interested in picking up the rights for the Australian territory.
According to information available with SportzPower, unless a last-minute deal is arranged by Foxtel (and Kayo Sports), Australian fans will have to watch the whole tour on Rabbithole.bd Sports YouTube channel.
For the record, the Aussies are taking on Bangladesh for a series of 5 T20Is. The tour kicked off Tuesday, 3rd August, at 5:30 PM IST with the first T20I at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium, Dhaka.
In India, meanwhile, the tour is being exclusively live-streamed on the FanCode App and www.fancode.com.
