PCB issues NOCs for Pak players in T10 League

LAHORE: The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that after much deliberation, it will be granting No-Objection Certificates (NOCs) to some of its players to participate in the T-10 League which is scheduled to take place next month in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The decision was taken after due diligence was carried out by the PCB in which the board procured and processed detailed information from the International Cricket Council (ICC) and the Emirates Cricket Board. Earlier, PCB chairman Ehsan Mani had expressed reservations over the T-10 League primarily due to ARY founder and CEO, Salman Iqbal’s resignation as the President of the tournament in September owing to ‘lack of transparency, unprofessionalism and improper structure in the league’ according to media reports.

As a precautionary measure, PCB’s own Anti-Corruption Unit also carried out a thorough review, which was the deciding factor in the top brass of the board taking the call. The board will once again send its own Integrity Officers to monitor the league.

It remains to be seen whether the decision is entirely player-friendly since the PCB had declared earlier this year that centrally-contracted players will only be granted NOCs to participate in just two overseas leagues annually besides the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

Plus, the T10 league is expected to clash with Pakistan’s ‘home’ series against New Zealand in the same country which will feature an equal three T20Is, three ODIs and three Test matches, questioning several of the players’ availability.
