PGTI confirms induction of Kapil Dev as board member

NEW DELHI: The Professional Golf Tour of India on Monday announced the induction of Indian cricket legend Kapil Dev as a board member of the PGTI, a development first reported in the Indian media by SportzPower on Friday, March 12.

The confirmation of Kapil Dev’s induction as a PGTI board member was made alongside the announcement that the PGTI and Prometheus School, Noida, would be jointly staging the Prometheus School Presents Delhi-NCR Open Golf Championship 2021.

The tournament is scheduled to be played at the scenic Golden Greens Golf Club in Gurugram from March 16th – 19th. The Pro-Am event will be staged on March 20. The tournament, the 10th event of the 2020-21 PGTI season, carries a prize purse of Rs 3 million.

The third edition of the Delhi-NCR Open Golf Championship is supported by Prometheus School, Noida, which is the presenting partner and Gujarat Tourism, which is the associate partner for the event.

At Monday’s press conference, Kapil Dev said: “I thank both the presenting partner Prometheus School and associate partner Gujarat Tourism for supporting the Delhi-NCR Open Golf Championship 2021. As a board member of the PGTI, I will try my best to promote Indian professional golf. All sports need promotion and since I play golf I’m delighted to be involved with it. We need a lot of support from corporates and the media to help give a further boost to professional golf in India.”

Jeev Milkha Singh said, “Mr. Kapil Dev being inducted as a board member of the PGTI will open up a lot of doors for the PGTI. He’s a sporting legend, a keen golfer and he has a vision so it will be great to see his experience come into play for the benefit of Indian professional golf.”
