Possible Sooryavanshi India debut drives ticket rush across Europe for Ireland series

ANTICIPATION SURROUNDING TEENAGE cricket prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has reached unprecedented levels in Ireland, with fans from across Europe scrambling for tickets ahead of his expected international debut in India’s upcoming T20I series against Ireland. The excitement has transformed what would normally be a modest bilateral series into one of the most talked-about cricket events of the summer.

The 15-year-old batting sensation, who became one of the biggest stars of IPL 2026, is widely expected to make his senior India debut when the two-match series begins at Civil Service Cricket Club (Stormont) on June 26.

Former India and Ireland cricketer M. V. Narasimha Rao says the buzz around Sooryavanshi has sparked an extraordinary rush for tickets, with supporters planning trips to Belfast from cities across Europe, including Paris and other major cricket-following communities.

According to a PTI report Rao said local organizers are facing pressure because Stormont’s capacity is only around 7,000 spectators, raising concerns about accommodating the surge in demand if Sooryavanshi is named in the playing XI.

Reports from Ireland suggest that cricket followers from multiple European countries are planning to travel specifically to witness what could be the beginning of one of India’s most promising cricket careers.

Sooryavanshi’s meteoric rise has been one of cricket’s defining stories in 2026. After bursting onto the scene as a teenager in the IPL, he emerged as the tournament’s leading run-scorer and one of its most explosive batters. His performances earned him a place in India’s T20 setup and turned him into a household name despite being only 15 years old.

His momentum has continued beyond the IPL. Recently, he produced remarkable performances for India A, further strengthening calls for a senior-team debut.
