Pro Volleyball ropes in Nippon Paint as associate sponsor

MUMBAI: The Pro Volleyball League, which will have its inaugural season begin on 2 February, has bagged a sponsorship deal for its first two seasons with Nippon Paint, one of Asia’s largest coating manufacturers, Economic Times reports.

Nippon Paint will be named the associate sponsor of the league, which is co-owned by Indian sports management company Baseline Ventures and the Volleyball Federation of India (VFI).

It can be considered a strategic move for the Chennai-based company as many of the Pro Volleyball League’s matches this season will happen in the Tamil Nadu capital besides Kochi in Kerala.

However, this isn’t Nippon Paint’s first association with Indian sport. Nippon Paint also sponsors Chennai Super Kings in the IPL and Chennaiyin FC in the Indian Super League (ISL).

“Volleyball enjoys great popularity across all cities, small towns and villages of India. A professional league for it couldn’t have happened at a better time,” Nippon Paint President (Decorative Division) S Mahesh Anand was quoted as saying to the newspaper.

“We believe that our association with Pro Volleyball will give us a chance to support the sport in the years to come, and in turn, gain substantial traction for our global brand.”

Baseline Ventures MD and co-founder Tuhin Mishra told ET: “We are pleased to announce our association with Nippon Paint as sponsors for the Pro Volleyball league. The coming on board of Nippon Paint only testifies the belief of brands in Pro Volleyball League and the future of the sport in India.”

All the matches of the tournament will be broadcast live on Sony Six, Sony Ten 3 and the Sony LIV app.
