DUBAI: Ahead of its third season, the HBL Pakistan Super League (PSL) has added Chinese smartphone major Oppo to its partner roster.
Oppo is the first international smartphone brand to sponsor Pakistan’s domestic T20 league and has been a global partner of the International Cricket Council (ICC) for the last four years. Last year it signed a monster deal with the BCCI, acquiring five-year Team India sponsorship rights for a mind boggling Rs 10.79 billion.
This edition of PSL is also special as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) plans to host the playoffs of the tournament in the country after successfully staging the final of the 2017 edition. The tournament will get underway on February 22 in Dubai. The semi-finals – qualifier and eliminator – are scheduled to be hosted in Lahore while the final will be played in Karachi. It is another crucial step to bring back cricket to the terrorism hit country.
The first TVC will be released officially at a media conference in Lahore to be held on 8 February.
Oppo Pakistan CEO George Long said: “OPPO is a big supporter of sports and has always been associated with sports and entertainment globally. Cricket is a game full of passion and moments to remember, creating happiness for millions of people. We are extremely happy to be an official smartphone brand sponsor of HBL PSL. Oppo associates itself with the spirit of sport, a spirit that brings people together, just like your moments with a smartphone. This association is all set to take Opppo to newer heights in Pakistan.”
