PUMA has named Ramprasad Sridharan (49) as the new managing director of PUMA India. He will assume the position in December and will report directly to PUMA’s chief commercial officer, Matthias Bäumer.
Sridharan brings over 25 years of experience in brand building across the Asia-Pacific region, spanning digital expansion, retail strategy, and commercial leadership. Most recently, he served as CEO and managing director of United Colors of Benetton India, where he oversaw major transformation programs.
Prior to his tenure at Benetton, he held senior leadership roles at organisations such as Clarks and Reebok India. His career has been shaped by a focus on commercial strategy, leadership development, organisational growth, and driving high-performance cultures.
He succeeds Karthik Balagopalan, who has chosen to pursue new opportunities outside the company.
Commenting on the appointment, Bäumer said, “Ram is a highly experienced leader with a strong track record in the fashion and footwear industry. He brings deep retail expertise to PUMA that will strengthen our operations and support India as one of our key markets. I am confident that his strong background will help accelerate PUMA India’s growth and play a crucial role in turning our global strategic priorities into regional success. I want to also thank Karthik for his two decades with PUMA and wish him the best for his future.”
