BANGKOK: The Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) announced in its general assembly meeting on Sunday that Indian sports administrator Randhir Singh will head the co-ordination committee of the 2020 Asian Beach Games and the 2022 Asian Games, both of which will be held in China, Press Trust of India reports.
Singh has had a decorated career in sports, currently being the OCA honorary life vice-president. Besides being a five-time Olympian shooter, he was the secretary general at the OCA from 1991-2015 and at the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) as well from 1987-2012. He was recognised as a full as well as an honorary member by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) from 2001-2014.
“I am very happy to be appointed (as head of Asian Games Coordination Committee). It is a great honour and responsibility,” Singh was quoted as saying to PTI.
“It is for a four-year cycle and I will also be working in the same capacity in the 2020 Asian Beach Games in Sanya (China).”
