RCA schedules elections before 18 December: Report

JAIPUR: The Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA) will be conducting another set of fresh polls before 18 December this year, DNA reports.

“We are yet to earmark the final date, but it will be before December 18. The panel is working upon it.” RCA ad hoc committee chairman Vinod Saharan was quoted as saying to the newspaper.

Recently, the RCA fell in line with the norms of the newly-approved BCCI constitution which has the recommendations of the Supreme Court incorporated in it. While RCA’s changes were accepted by the Registrar of Cooperatives Societies, the BCCI hasn’t done so yet which has been a cause of concern.

The BCCI and RCA have been at loggerheads for years, primarily due to the indirect presence of former IPL commissioner Lalit Modi in the administrative ranks of Rajasthan. Modi was sacked from his position in 2010 for alleged financial irregularities surrounding the IPL and subsequently he took exile in England, having never returned to the country ever since.

In the previous RCA elections in June 2017, Congress leader CP Joshi was elected President but such was his failure that the Registrar of Cooperatives Societies had to dissolve the executive committee and form an ad hoc one.
