Real Madrid tops Deloitte report with record €1.16bn revenue

REAL MADRID emerged as the world’s highest-earning football club in the 2024/25 season, according to Deloitte’s latest Football Money League, securing the top spot for a third straight year with revenues of €1.161 billion.

The figure marks a new benchmark and represents only the second time a club has crossed the €1 billion threshold in Deloitte’s rankings. Notably, the Spanish giants achieved this milestone despite failing to win either LaLiga or the UEFA Champions League during the season.

Deloitte’s report attributes much of Real Madrid’s financial strength to its commercial performance, which rose 23 per cent to €594 million, driven by strong merchandise sales and the addition of new sponsorship agreements. Matchday revenue reached €233 million, the second-highest total ever recorded by a club in the history of the Money League.

Barcelona, Real Madrid’s long-time rivals and the reigning LaLiga champions, ranked second with revenues of €975 million, returning to the top three for the first time in five years. Bayern Munich finished third with €861 million, followed closely by UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain on €837 million.

Liverpool posted the highest revenue of any Premier League club for the first time, generating €836 million in the season they lifted the English title. Deloitte noted that this represented the strongest financial performance by an English club in the 29-year history of the Money League, with six Premier League teams featuring in the global top 10 this time.

Manchester United, meanwhile, slipped from fourth to eighth with revenues of €793 million after finishing 15th in the league, marking the club’s lowest position ever in a ranking they have topped on ten previous occasions.

Deloitte also pointed to the growing financial influence of clubs from the Saudi Pro League, as well as Inter Miami from Major League Soccer, suggesting that their rise could challenge the long-standing dominance of Europe’s elite clubs in the years ahead.
