THE FINALE of Stranger Things 5 has taken on an unmistakably Indian flavour, with cricket star Rohit Sharma adding to the buzz in a special promotional video released by Netflix ahead of Volume 2.
Unveiled on Tuesday, the promo cleverly blends cricketing bravado with the show’s trademark supernatural tension. Sharing the clip on social media, Netflix captioned it: “Hitman aa raha hai upside down ko seedha karne ❤️”.
Stranger Things 5: Volume 2 will comprise three new episodes, all set to premiere on Netflix on Christmas Day. The much-anticipated final episode will then arrive on New Year’s Eve, 31 December.
In the video, Sharma is seen addressing his teammates, beginning on a light-hearted note before shifting gears and calling for focus as they prepare to take on Vecna, the series’ main antagonist.
“Listen carefully. The finale is coming,” Sharma says. “Not just your career, your entire life could get flipped upside down.”
The promo also showcases Sharma unveiling a specially designed Stranger Things-themed kit, complete with a nod to one of the fan-favourite Steve Harrington, portrayed by Joe Keery.
“Get ready, boys. It’s time to straighten the Upside Down. Vecna, your fielding is set,” Sharma quips, signing off with a signature cricketing flourish.
Sharma retired from T20 internationals in June 2024 and stepped away from Test cricket on 7 May. He was also stripped of India’s ODI captaincy earlier this year. Despite this, the seasoned batter continues to feature in the 50-over format and is determined to make one final push towards the 2027 ODI World Cup. He is scheduled to turn out for Mumbai in the first two matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025–26 season.
