Round 2 of 2W National Racing Championship from Aug 1 to 3

With a schedule of 20 races across 11 categories and 152 entrants, the three-day Rolon Round of the MRF MMSC fmsci Indian National Motorcycle Racing Championship 2025 is set to begin at the Kari Motor Speedway on 1 August.

Headlining the event is the double-header in the premium Pro-Stock 301–400cc class, which delivered thrilling races in the previous round held in June at the Madras International Circuit. Pune’s 18-year-old Sarthak Chavan (Petronas TVS Racing), currently third in the Idemitsu FIM Asia Road Racing Championship (TVS Asia), and Hyderabad’s Rahil Pillarisetty (RACR Castrol Power1), who at 27 has found renewed momentum on his preferred Yamaha R3 after several inconsistent seasons aboard a KTM, won a race each.

The duo will face stiff competition from the Petronas TVS Racing pair – Bengaluru’s Chiranth Vishwanath and Alwin Sundar from Chennai. Also in contention is 45-year-old multiple National Champion Rajini Krishnan (RACR Castrol Power1) from Chennai, a consistent podium finisher.

The Pro-Stock 165–300cc class, which debuted this season with a 12-bike grid of Petronas TVS Racing’s factory-supported GP 200R machines based on the Apache RTR 200 4V, generated significant buzz. Bengaluru teenager Savion Sabu (Mad Rabbit Racing) clinched the sole race victory—after the second scheduled race was cancelled due to rain—by fending off a group of seasoned riders.

Joining the championship for its second round is the newly introduced Super Stock 165cc Intermediate class. The rest of the grids remain unchanged, including the two Novice classes – Stock 301–400cc and Stock 165cc, both featuring large entries. The Girls’ category (Stock 165cc) sees Chennai’s Ann Jennifer (Motul Sparks Racing) aiming to reclaim the national title she last won in 2020.

Ann Jennifer won both races in Round-1 ahead of defending champion Jagathishree Kumaresan (One Racing). Also on the grid are two other former National champions, Puducherry’s Lani Zena Fernandez (RACR Castrol Power1) and Chennai’s Ryhana Bee (KYT Helmet ISBK Racing) who missed the first round.

Completing the race weekend are the two One-Make Championships – Petronas TVS India (Expert, Rookie, Women, and Electric RTE categories) and the Idemitsu Honda India Talent Cup (CB 300F). Both championships, with entries finalised through a rigorous selection process, have consistently served as nurseries of racing talent, offering structured programmes to compete at the National level and gain widespread recognition.

Chairman of the event and race director Manoj Dalal said, “The first round of the championship in June was a huge success in terms of the quality of racing and young riders with big dreams. We can expect more of the same this weekend with a total of 152 entries. Over the years, the National championship has unearthed many gems, some of whom have graduated to international level and performed well. As for the conditions at the Kari Motor Speedway, rain is forecast for the weekend and if we do get wet weather then that could add a twist to the proceedings. We once again welcome the competitors, the teams and all the stakeholders to a weekend of exciting action.”
