Sachin 35th most influential person on Twitter: Brandwatch

MUMBAI: Indian batting great Sachin Tendulkar is among the 50 most influential people on Twitter this year, placed at number 35, according to an annual research carried out by consumer intelligence company Brandwatch.

The research cited Tendulkar’s “appreciable real work for the less fortunate, lending his voice and presence for the right causes, his inspired fans following his work and his partner brands’ relevant impactful campaigns” for his inclusion in the list.

Sachin makes his way into the elite list at No 35, with American singer Taylor Swift atop at No 1.

t has been more than eight years since the sporting legend quit playing all forms of cricket. But even today, he continues to make his presence felt as an endearing icon inspiring multiple generations of fans.

Sachin has extended his circle of influence by focusing on social initiatives & giving back to ensure less fortunate children get a shot at achieving their dreams.  That in turn has not only inspired his huge fan base but has also driven long-standing brand partners to create memorable campaigns that have had billions of impressions on social media. Gillette and their campaign on the ‘Banwari tola girls’ or the one where they suggested ‘it’s ok for men to cry’ are but a couple of these high impact brand campaigns with a strong social message.

Sachin’s name is synonymous with various social causes. He has been associated with UNICEF for more than a decade now and was appointed the ambassador for South Asia in 2013. He has supported causes such as early childhood development, empowering girls through sports, hand wash initiatives, etc. Sachin, over the years, has supported many worthy initiatives in health, education, and sports, both in rural and urban India across states such as Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam etc. He continues to be associated with Spreading Happiness India Foundation (SHIF) in association with Schneider Electric India that aims to increase awareness about green initiatives amongst school children.

One thing hasn’t changed from Sachin’s playing days, he still lets his work do the talking, he never speaks about them. His appreciable real work for the less fortunate, lending his voice and presence for the right causes, his inspired fans following his work and purpose and engaging with the same and his partner brands and their relevant impactful campaigns have paved the way for his entry into Brandwatch’s top-most influential people on Twitter.
