MUMBAI: A month shy of nine years since Sachin Tendulkar ended a decade-long bat sponsorship deal with Indian tyre major MRF (in September 2009), the cricket icon has reportedly reached agreement with rival Apollo Tyres to be their brand ambassador for the next five years.
An Economic Times report, quoting industry sources, puts the value of the deal at Rs 150-200 million. However, both Apollo Tyres and SRT Sports Management, which represents Tendulkar, offered no comment to the business daily on the reported development.
For Apollo, signing on a brand ambassador will be new territory for India’s second largest tyre company, which has an ongoing global sponsorship with Manchester United as the Premier League powerhouse’s official tyre partner.
