Sanju Samson named English Premier League ambassador

INDIAN CRICKETER Sanju Samson has been appointed as the official ambassador of the English Premier League (EPL) in India, in a move aimed at deepening the league’s engagement with Indian audiences.

According to a press release, Samson will play a central role in promoting the EPL brand and connecting with fans across the country through various outreach initiatives and events.

As part of his new role, Samson recently joined former England and Liverpool striker Michael Owen at a fan engagement event in Mumbai, held at the NESCO Centre. The event featured a fan-park style live screening and interactive community activities, offering fans an immersive EPL experience.

A lifelong Liverpool supporter, Samson shared his admiration for the club and reflected on how his connection with football began in Kerala, growing up in a family passionate about the sport. Owen, meanwhile, noted the strong presence of Arsenal supporters at the event, a sign of the rapidly growing football culture across India.

In addition to his new EPL role, Samson also serves as the brand ambassador for Kerala Blasters FC, underlining his ongoing commitment to developing and promoting football in India.
