THE BOARD OF CONTROL FOR CRICKET IN INDIA (BCCI) Tuesday announced the 15-man squad for the Asia Cup 2025, which is scheduled to begin on 9 September in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
Suryakumar Yadav will captain the side, with Shubman Gill appointed as vice-captain.
The Ajit Agarkar-led men’s selection committee recalled Gill, who missed India’s last three bilateral T20I series against Bangladesh, South Africa and England, following his impressive performances as captain and batter in the recent Test series in England. He scored a record 754 runs at an average of 75.
The squad does not feature Yashasvi Jaiswal or Shreyas Iyer in the main line-up. However, Jaiswal has been included among the standbys alongside Prasidh Krishna, Washington Sundar, Riyan Parag and Dhruv Jurel.
Speaking about the squad, Yadav said, “We have lovely players around with amazing skills, which makes my job easier.”
India will begin their Asia Cup campaign against the UAE on 10 September at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, before facing arch-rivals Pakistan at the same venue on 14 September. Their only Group A fixture in Abu Dhabi comes against Oman on Friday, 19 September.
