SONY PICTURES NETWORKS India (SPNI) has appointed Harsh Deep Chhabra as head of Strategy and New Business, bringing on board a seasoned business and media strategy leader as it sharpens its focus on future growth opportunities.
Per a company release, Chhabra will lead strategic planning and business development initiatives across SPNI’s portfolio, with a mandate to identify emerging opportunities, drive innovation and strengthen the company’s long-term market positioning. He will report to Gaurav Banerjee, managing director and CEO, SPNI, and work closely with the leadership team to shape the company’s long-term strategic direction, drive enterprise-wide priorities, and identify new growth opportunities across a rapidly evolving media landscape.
Chhabra joins the network from Godrej Consumer Products, where he was Global lead – Media, responsible for driving media strategy across international markets and leading data-led consumer engagement initiatives.
With over 15 years of experience, Chhabra has built a diverse career across strategy, media, consulting and business transformation. Prior to Godrej Consumer Products, he held leadership roles at organisations including GroupM, BCG and Airtel, where he worked across growth strategy, digital transformation, market expansion and business planning.
His cross-sector expertise spanning media, consumer goods and consulting is expected to support SPNI as it adapts to evolving audience behaviour and explores new business models in an increasingly dynamic entertainment landscape.
The appointment reflects SPNI’s continued focus on strengthening strategic leadership as the media industry undergoes rapid transformation driven by digital consumption, platform convergence and shifting monetisation models.
Commenting on the appointment, Banerjee is quoted in the release as having said: “Harsh Deep brings a powerful blend of strategic acumen and deep industry expertise across media, advertising, and digital ecosystems. His ability to translate insights into decisive, high-impact strategies will be instrumental as we accelerate our growth agenda. I am confident his leadership will unlock new opportunities, strengthen our competitive edge, and create enduring value for the organisation.”
Chhabra added: “I am excited about joining SPNI at such a pivotal moment of transformation. In today’s rapidly evolving media landscape, the opportunity lies in combining strategic foresight with agile execution to unlock new growth avenues. Partnering closely with Gaurav and the leadership team, I look forward to advancing enterprise priorities, build future-ready capabilities, and identify innovative opportunities that deliver sustained business impact.”
