MUMBAI: Global data collection and analysis firm Hype Auditor has released its 2020 list of top 1,000 global Instagram influencers and in the category of “Sports With a Ball”, Team India cricket captain Virat Kohli comes in at an impressive 4th in the world.
While preparing its 2020 list, Hype Auditor offered an analysis of a total of 1,000 Instagram accounts and the parameters which were taken into consideration were the involvement of the celebrities, creating social awareness regarding different issues such as COVID-19, inspiring and motivating people and the quality of the followers.
Ahead of Kohli on the list were football superstars Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr, in that order.
Among Indians, the next highest after Kohli were all cricketers, with Rohit Sharma at 19, Sachin Tendulkar at 23 and “Young Turks” Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul at 28 and 40 respectively.
Biggest surprise? While swashbuckling South African batsman AB de Villiers figures on the list at 33, India’s former Captain Cool MS Dhoni does not figure at all in the Top 50 rankings of the “Sports With a Ball” category.
